I have been dabbling in drawing and painting since 1996. I had all these graphic ideas in my head so I began taking classes at the local community college to see if I could learn how to put them into form. It has been a fun journey so far and I find it a healthy activity to balance with my career as a horse trainer and riding instructor. Thus far, I have worked in charcoal, pencil, pastel and watercolor. Finding the time and the discipline to work and play with art is the biggest challenge for me currently. When I do take the time to practice art, I love the moments when the art seems to come through me, as if I am merely the conduit to a deeper level of expression and connection. It is the same idea of “throughness” I seek when I ride horses but the feelings and expressions are different. |
